A family of five was charred to death on Tuesday when their Santro car collided with a tractor on the national highway in Palwal in Haryana. The collision caused a CNG leak and a massive explosion. The family was returning from Vrindavan when the accident took place.
According to police, the occupants of the car were on their way to Delhi from Agra when the tractor moving ahead of the vehicle suddenly braked, leading to the collision. The Santro caught fire and all the occupants including an 11-year-old boy were killed.
Fire brigade personnel reached the spot but were unable to save any of the occupants, police said, adding that the tractor driver ran away from the spot. Traffic on the highway remained blocked for hours due to the accident.
