Aircel introduces Independence Day offer Plan 1508

Good new fors all the Aircel Network lovers Popular mobile service provider Aircel has introduced a mobile tariff plan for the occasion of Independence Day, according to an official statement. Signifying the date of Independence Day (15-08, i.e., 15 August), the operator has named the plan 1508. Subscribers of the plan can avail the combined benefits of a GPRS-enabled, dual-SIM mobile handset, along with voice, text and data services. The plan will become available from August 14, 2012, at a cost of Rs.1,508. The customer gets an Alcatel OT 318 handset, 1,508 minutes of local talk time, 1,508 National SMSes, and 1,508MB of data (2G), all with 90-day validity. The offer is available at all Aircel Stores across all of Aircel’s 23 circles in India for a period of 90 days, or till stock lasts.

he Alcatel OT 318 phone sports a display of 128×160 pixels, and lets users save up to 400 contacts. The official statement adds that users can expect talk time of up to 6 hours, and standby time of up to 400 hours. Other features of the phone include MP3 ringtones, 64-tone polyphonic melodies, torch light, dual SIM, vibrator, and VGA camera.

The operator was in the news recently when reports about it Planning to4G service later in the year surfaced. Aircel will invest $500 million (around Rs. 2,757 crores) in launching its 4G services in the country between October and December, and will begin rolling out 4G services from Chennai and other cities in Tamil Nadu. Aircel has spectrum in eight circles in the country.

Sandip Das, CEO of Malaysian telco Maxis Berhad that controls a majority stake in Aircel, said that Aircel will provide mobile 4G services by way of dongles and devices, and also plans to offer broadband Internet, broadcasting, video-on-demand, and education and healthcare services. Aircel has also been working towards creating a fibre optic backbone, which it plans to do partly by leasing, and partly by way of its own investments.
