Authorise law for assignments to Election Commissionand constitutional posts by Advani

In sight of the modern argument across assigning P J Thomas as Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC), senior BJP leader L K Advani said a law ought be authorized to de-politicise designations to constitutional posts like Election Commission, CAG and UPSC, amongst others.

“I feel it would be appropriate to decide now that a law is enacted to de-politicise appointments to key constitutional and statutory bodies,” Advani alleged on his web log.

He conveyed his concern across the “misuse” of authorization along the UPA government, comprise it in the event of Thomas’ appointment as the CVC despite a dissent from leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj or the “polemical” glosses made by Law Minister Salman Kurshid which constrained the Election Commission to write to President Pratibha Patil.
