Delhi: ATM van carrying Rs 5 crore cash of ICICI Bank looted
An ATM van carrying Rs 5 crore cash was looted by robbers in broad daylight on Friday in Delhi’s Defence Colony.
The van was carrying the cash of the ICICI Bank. The robbers shot at the guard and ran away with the ATM van. The guard has been admitted to the AIIMS trauma centre and is in a critical state.
The police reached the spot and were carrying out the initial investigation. Searches were being carried out in South Delhi and adjoining districts.
The ATM van was found in the south Delhi area, but the robbers have run away with the cash. The robbers transferred the cash and moved into another vehicle and ran away.
Reacting to the incident, the ICICI bank issued a statement clarifying that the van and the guard did not belong to them.
The bank said, “We would like to inform you that the van and the guard did not belong to ICICI Bank. They belonged to an organisation called Premier Shield Pvt Ltd, which is a cash replenishment agency and they work for various banks.”
