Rajasthan: Banasthali University students protest against sexual abuse of 2
The students of the Banasthali Vidyapith in Tonk, Rajasthan, took out a protest march on Thursday night after two of their classmates were allegedly sexually abused for over a week. The protesting students said that a class 11 girl and a B. Tech. student were harassed by two outsiders and that the university administration was trying to hush up the matter.
Almost 5,000 students protested outside the campus late on Thursday night to demand justice for the victims. They even pelted stones and refused to let the district administration enter the campus until much later.
Banasthali is a fully residential women’s university, thus making high security for its students all the more necessary. More details on the incident are awaited.
