Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 to begin on June 16

Hot babes will burn the dance floor on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in its fifth season when the show goes on air this weekend.Pretty faces of the small screen, TV anchors and Bollywood starlets are among the attractions that the reality dance show is touting, besides former Sri Lankan cricket captain Sanath Jayasuriya.The show, a desi version that crosses the international hits Dancing with the Stars and Strictly Come Dancing, aims at highlighting the dancing skills of nondancer celebrities.The fifth season, however, is largely dominated by PYTs.Renowned anchor Archana Vijaya, veejay Shibani Dandekar, Bollywood starlet Isha Sharvani, daily soap stars Pratyusha Banerjee of Balika Vadhu fame and Gia Manek from the soap, Saath Nibhana Saathiya are among the top glam draws.Madhuri Dixit, filmmaker Karan Johar and choreographer Remo D’Souza will judge the 13 contestants, the list of which also includes child star Darsheel Safary, ghazal singer Talat Aziz, comedian Bharti and TV actress Jayati Bhatia.”The stress this season is more on international dance forms, besides regular Bollywood dancing that the show has every season. Thus, these girls will try to swing the western way,” a source from the sets said.In the past, the show has seen several non-dancing stars from the world of sports, besides chefs and filmmakers.However, this season, the stress seems to be more on glam girls. Barring Jayasuriya, the other big draws on the show belong to the showbiz industry.”I have been an anchor for the past eight years and I wanted an image makeover. Being a dancer on this show would not only be glamorous but also a new experience,” Archana said.Archana, along with other contestants, have been rehearsing over the past several weeks. Isha, who has been in the news lately for her association with cricketer Zaheer Khan, is another glamorous face on the show. A trained dancer, she is being touted as one of the favourites to win.
