MoU was foretoken by CSIR-NEIST and USTM

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST) and University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) and other institutions under Education Research & Development Foundation (ERDF) here on Friday.

“Since CSIR-NEIST and ERDF are both doing work towards the destination of regional exploitation through concentrated care on the youth of the region, it was felt that synergizing their efforts and endeavors would reproduce their accomplishments in multiple manners. CSIR-NEIST and ERDF will cooperator altogether exploitation activities, apportion resources and coordinate regular programmes, in which men of Science i.e., Scientists from CSIR-NEIST will exercise together with the faculty and research scholars of USTM & ERDF institutions and acquire freshly strategies for joint action to make the region science and technology vibrant,” P G Rao, NEIST director said.

He added, “As north-east is the bio-diversity hotspot in the global scenario, both the organizations are appearing ahead to work collectively and use the natural resource usable for the technological and economical growth of the area.”

M Hoque, chairperson of ERDF and premier of USTM said, “One of the primary objectives of the MoU is to actuate science scholars, technocrats, research students and faculties to work for scientific development of the area.”

Dr Rose Emma Mamaa Entsu-Mensah, Deputy Director General of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), has called for the need to support farming women in agriculture with loanwords to assist them to blow up their activities. She described as entirely unacceptable the nowadays situation wherever they receive less than 10 per cent of rural credit adding that it was calculated that 80 percent of sub- Saharan African women are farmers, acquiring between 60-80 per cent of the food demands of the poor.
